Election is over... but, how important is winning if it is not for the greater good?

how important is winning if the team is not cohesive and expresses gracious professionalism throughout? Our team members are expected to show that they are happy for other teams no matter what the situation. Maybe, the adults around can look at the robotics teams as an example of how they are suppose to act if the winner is not their pick.
